Yorkshire, also known as Eurviscire during the Anglo-Saxon period, is a historic and the largest county of England.

During the early Middle Ages, the county was under the control of the Vikings, who based themselves at the city of Eoforwic, which they renamed Jórvík, and is now known as York.[1]
