York is a city and the county town of North YorkshireEngland. The city served as the capital of Northumbria during the Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy.


Trivia

  • York was initially settled as a Roman Fortress in 71CE and eventually recovered by Anglians by the 6th century, naming the city Eoforwic.
    • When the Danes took over the city they renamed it Jorvik, which is where the name York comes from.
