Biography

In January 2012, Wu and their associate, Dr. P. J. Traunero, used a prototype dMRI machine to examine a neuron in living tissue and discovered the existence of a then-unknown neurotransmitter in humans. Subjecting the neuron to numerous stimuli, the doctors were disappointed when it would not release the neurotransmitter. They then discovered that the neurotransmitter filled every vesicle and had its own ion channels for no discernible purpose. After finding no evidence of similar neurotransmitters in predecessor species, Wu and Traunero were baffled that natural selection created something exclusively in humans.[1]
