William Woodford (6 October 1734 – 13 November 1780) was a Colonel in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War.
In 1775, Woodford presided over the 2nd Virginia Regiment's victory at the Battle of Great Bridge, driving governor Lord Dunmore from Virginia. He marched on Norfolk and burned the city, but Dunmore survived as he was protected by the Colonial Assassins.
