The Armor of Altaïr was an unbreakable set of armor that was constructed by Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad using knowledge obtained from the Apple of Eden.

Subsequent to his death, the armor was sealed in the Sanctuary beneath the Villa Auditore, where it was later recovered and used by another member of the Assassin Order, Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Can someone try to fix the extra line that keeps appearing between Assassin's Creed: Bloodline and Assassin's Creed II? I keep deleting the line and it looks OK in the editing screen, but when I preview or save there's always an extra line there again. -- OpVines 23:48, November 28, 2009 (UTC)
Appearance
The metal portions of the armor appeared to have a gold tint, while the leather portions were black or dark brown. Unlike most chest plates, which are usually made up of a single piece, the chest plate of the Armor of Altaïr appeared to be made up of several overlapping metal guards.

Gauntlet...
A black cloak accompanied Altaïr's armor, and seemed to be of a similar cut to Altaïr's regular Assassin robes. In addition to being black, it was much longer than the one Ezio would normally wear, and was made up of three layers. Each layer was longer than the one above it, and the longest, lower layer was segmented, giving the whole piece a look resembling an eagle's wings.

If I were to get this armor but only have the gauntlet of another armor. If I equip the gauntlet, will I only have that peice of armor on? I mean, Say I dont purchace ANY armor except for the metal gauntlet, and I eventually get Altair's Armor. If I equip the gauntlet will that be the only set of armor I have on?

Some time after 1491, Ezio Auditore managed to recover the six Assassin seals, and claim the armor as his own. *According to a piece of concept art, it seems that the armor was originally intended to be an invention of Leonardo da Vinci, before being a creation of Altaïr.
*The lining on the back of the hood forms a shape similar to the Assassin insignia.
*While wearing the armor in Assassin's Creed II, the hood is never down during cut-scenes where it would normally be down if wearing Giovanni's Assassin robes.
*Interestingly, the robes underneath resemble Giovanni's Renaissance-era robes rather than Crusade-era robes, albeit much more ornate.
*Altaïr's armor, unlike other armor in the game, can only be worn as a full set, and the robes underneath it cannot be dyed.
*Though it is not mandatory to complete the six Assassin's Tombs, the player must retrieve all the seals to gain full synchronization.
*The complete Missaglias armor set has the same total amount of health and resistance as Altaïr's armor. Although it is breakable, the player may want to use the Missaglias armor instead of Altaïr's armor to maintain Ezio's original robes.
*In the Codex pages it is stated that Altaïr erased the armor's formula due to his belief that it was far too powerful.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
*Ezio explains to Mario near the beginning of the game that the armor "blunted [Rodrigo's] attack" from the end of Assassin's Creed II, which was how he survived being stabbed.
*Altaïr's armor has 25 health squares, as does the Armor of Brutus, its spiritual successor in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
*Altaïr's armor is available for 20 Uplay Units, though it is only cosmetic, and provides no advantages or disadvantages.
*During cutscenes, while wearing the Armor of Altaïr outfit, the blade of Ezio's left hidden blade will clip through his left elbow whenever he bends his left arm.
*Ezio has his hood down twice while wearing the Armor of Altaïr; in Monteriggioni until the siege, and in the last Cristina Memory.
*In Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy, the icon of an Elite Assassin depicts Ezio wearing Altaïr's armor.
*After Ezio arrives at Monteriggioni, the player is allowed to access the Inventory menu and look at Ezio's current armor, and even though he is currently wearing the Armor of Altaïr, it is shown that he does not have any kind of armor on him.

well...don't you all think that Armor of altair made from the same metal used to create piece of eden?(since the apple hold most if not all knowledge in this world)

maybe the armor is indestructable?(because i have read that only great destructable power such as tunguska explosion cappable to destroy POE...)so there is no chance the armor destroyed by cannon ball...

Canonically speaking, the Codex pages say that Altair forged the armor from a mundane alloy that was stronger than anything extant at the time (possibly an ultrastrong steel alloy, or something similar), but not from the material in a Piece of Eden. The armor is stated to be invincible, but that was only against the threats that were expected in 11th-century Israel. Thirty-pound balls of iron going 250 mph were probably not considered a possibility. Hey, the armor is indestructable. The wiki states the armor got buried underneath the rubble during the siege.(Taanish Mehla 12:09, June 25, 2011 (UTC))

Also, when playing as desmond at the start of brotherhood, You see a vision of Ezio doing the leap of faith, and I don't think that the leap of faither position was in Ezio's playable time, and he was wearing the armor of altilair, so I assume he went and got it back. == Armor's date ==

As seen in the Cristina Memories, the armor was unlocked at Carnivale, which would mean Ezio unlocked the armor right after finding all the secret locations, and not between 1491-1497. Shouldn't we change it?

During the cristina memories ezio was still wearing the giovanni's robe...ThibautB 14:46, June 19, 2011 (UTC)

This sixth seal was found in 1486(thats when is unlockable and it can be found then)And so Ezio found the final seal in 1486 and since you can go the the Villa in the same year Ezio claimed the Armor in 1486.AdrianoAuditore

:Even though the armor can be unlocked after the Carnivale, Ezio doesn't wear it in AC II:Discovery which takes between 1491. ::Another proof and yet is complicated is in Assassins Creed Brotherhood, even tough Ezio does not wear the Armor at the Carnivale he has the sword of Altair,so therefore he unlocked the sixth seal in 1486,if he wasnt shown with the Armor on him it was because either Ubisoft did not decided to have him wear it either Ezio did not claim the armor yet,but he had the seal otherwise the Sword of Altair would not be purchasable. So the correct date is 1486.AdrianoAuditore 16:07, July 29, 2011 (UTC)
:::The noob has a point. The armour is obtainable in-game as early as 1486, which is what should be mentioned in the article. The easiest explanation for Ezio's not wearing the armour in Discovery would be that he, quite simply, didn't wear it in Spain. --<span style="color:#BF404D">Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record</span> 16:41, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

the robe part
I know the metal is from the Crusade-Era made by Altair and all that, but the robes arent in the style. Isn't it likely that the metal and protective parts were from Altair's time, and Ezio had the Montergionni tailor make him new clothes to wear with it or something? I posted this before, but someone removed it as "speculation" ... i think it's more likely though User:Eggy2504 17:07, 25 July, 2011
:Key word there is think. We don't know for sure, so it can't be on an article. Altaïr made it with the information he got out of the Apple, right? Of course it wouldn't be the style of his time then, it's way ahead in technology. But it's true we don't know for sure. --UDITORE 16:11, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Revelations?
I wonder if the armor of altair will make an appearance in Revelations. I had a thought: what if there was a side mission in the game where Ezio went back to Monteriggioni and (spoiler alert) wrote the message on the wall and then retreaved the armor. He could the cloth replaced to have a constantiople look to it and still have the actual armor. So it is more like a recovered version of the armor. Tell me your thoughts. TheDudeMan123456 21:59, October 16, 2011 (UTC)

Well, the cloth could be replaced with the awesome blue robes he's wearing, so yeah, that would be

badass! Also, the Monteriggioni thing sounds sweet as well. PingoEagle 11:53, October 22, 2011 (UTC)

Altair never used his Armor?
Please, in the Trivia section says that Altair states in his Codex that he never actually wore his set of Armor.. Could someone confirm that? Because in that Codex page related to his Armor there's no such statement.. only that he erased the formula.. that doesn't mean he never used it.

Revision as of 14:14, 20 January 2012

This article is about Altaïr's armor set. You may be looking for Altaïr's robes.
"It is possessed of great strength, yet so light to allow complete freedom..."
―Altaïr's description of the armor in the Codex, page 19.[src]

The Armor of Altaïr was an unbreakable set of armor that was constructed by Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad using knowledge obtained from the Apple of Eden.

Subsequent to his death, the armor was sealed in the Sanctuary beneath the Villa Auditore, where it was later recovered and used by another member of the Assassin Order, Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Appearance

The metal portions of the armor appeared to have a gold tint, while the leather portions were black or dark brown. Unlike most chest plates, which are usually made up of a single piece, the chest plate of the Armor of Altaïr appeared to be made up of several overlapping metal guards.

History

Third Crusade and Middle Ages

The Codex design of the armor.

Following the death of Al Mualim, Altaïr took the Apple of Eden from him, and adopted the rank of Mentor.[1]

He later constructed an unbreakable set of armor, using knowledge from the Piece of Eden, and chronicled its creation in his personal journal. There, he admitted to using the Apple to discover the properties of a new metal, which he had used to forge the armor.[1] He also wrote about how he ultimately destroyed the armor's blueprints, fearing that it was too powerful to be recreated by either friend or foe.

Renaissance

"Little is known about Altaïr's life, but his armor is light and very strong. I'd give it to you, but I don't know how to retrieve it. My great-grandfather told me it would remain locked away until all its protectors were made whole."
Mario Auditore to Ezio.[src]

At some point following his death, Altaïr's armor was stored inside the Villa Auditore's sanctuary. It was locked behind a metal gate that could only be opened when all six Assassin's Seals from hidden Assassin's Tombs were collected and placed on their respective statues.[1]

Some time after 1491, Ezio Auditore managed to recover the six Assassin seals, and claim the armor as his own. He would eventually wear this set of robes during the Bonfire of the Vanities, and during his confrontation with the Templar Grand Master, Rodrigo Borgia, in Rome.[2][3]

Following this, Ezio returned to Monteriggioni and gave the armor a place of pride in his bed chamber. However, with the sudden and unexpected Siege of Monteriggioni, the armor was struck by a cannonball and was lost under the rubble.[3]

However, when Desmond Miles first entered the Sanctuary, he encountered – through the bleeding effect – the ghost of an older Ezio wearing the armor. Based on this, it is possible that Ezio salvaged the armor from under the ruins of the Villa sometime after the death of Cesare Borgia in 1507.[3]
