The Stable of Augeias was a stable which had allegedly belonged to Augeias, King of Elis, in Greek mythology.
History
Myth
According to the Greek mythology, the hero Herakles was demanded to cleanse out the stable, which had never been done before, as the fifth of his twelve labours.[1]
5th century BCE
By the time of the Peloponnesian War in the 5th century BCE, the stable was an abandoned building outside Elis City within the Kingdom of Pelops. When the Spartan misthios Kassandra visited the place, she found it had become a den of boars.[1]
