The entrance of the Sphongos Cave

The Sphongos Cave was a cave in the Highlands of Asklepiades on the island of Kos, Greece. Located directly north of Artemisia Fort, it connected the fort with Aion Vineyard.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the cave and looted a treasure chest that had been left behind.[1]
