Snares were primarily used for hunting small animals, though they would be destroyed if a larger animal stepped on them. Also, while not their optimal use, Ratonhnhaké:ton could use snares to counter-kill enemies whenever he was attacked.

- Snares are first introduced in Sequence 4, when Ratonhnhaké ton, and his childhood friend Kanen'to':kon are hunting in the woods. Both of the boys, are needed to hunt for their village's people, but more importantly the Clan Mother. Both boys are seen planting snares. They finish, and wander off into the woods. Minutes later, they return back to their snares and see a rabbit caught in each one.
