The Shadowed Nymph was a pirate trireme which traversed the Aegean Sea during the 5th century BCE.
Captained by an ostracized Athenian polemarch, the ship was destroyed by the Adrestia commandeered by the Spartan misthios Kassandra at some point during the Peloponnesian War. Kassandra then claimed the ship's valuables as well as her sails and finery.[1]
Trivia
- The sail of the Shadowed Nymph bore the likeness of Cerberus, the three-headed hound of Hades, while her name referenced an unnamed nymph.
- The figurehead of the Shadowed Nymph featured Skylla, a nymph turned into a monster in Greek mythology.
