The Ranger was a brig owned by the pirate Charles Vane. He captained the Ranger until the year 1718, when she was severely damaged in battle with a slaver ship owned by the Royal African Company.
Following this, Vane's associate - Jack Rackham - led a mutiny against him, leaving him and Edward Kenway stranded on the unrepairable Ranger, near the island of Isla Providencia.
