Patriots, also known as Colonials and Rebels, were the colonists of the Thirteen Colonies of Great Britain in North America who violently rebelled against British control during the American Revolution.

The Continental Congress, consisting of Patriot delegates, created the Continental Army to combat the British Crown's forces, with the colonies soon declaring war with the British Army against political misrepresentation.
