Paper Trail was a virtual representation of one of Ezio Auditore's genetic memories, relived by Desmond Miles in 2012 through the Animus.
Description
After the assassination of Juan Borgia, Cesare's banker, Ezio Auditore returned to the Rosa in Fiore to find that Claudia was in trouble. However, upon entering the brothel, he witnessed the dead bodies of the guards scattered on the floor and Claudia standing over them triumphantly with a knife.
Dialogue
Ezio returned to the brothel to find two courtesans standing outside and crying.
- Ezio: Where are Claudia and Maria?
- Courtesan: We came back with the money. They followed us home.

Ezio rushed inside.
Upon entering the brothel he was surprised to find the guards who followed the courtesan dead on the floor and Claudia standing with a blood-drenched Stiletto.
- Claudia: What?
- Ezio: My sister knows how to wield a knife.
- Claudia: And I am ready to do it again.
- Ezio: Spoken like a true Auditore.
- Maria: Finally, you two came to your senses. It's about time.
Outcome
The Borgia guards who followed Claudia's courtesans were killed and Ezio realized that his sister was capable of handling herself in combat.
