Oxford (Old English: Oxeneforda) is the largest city in and namesake of Oxfordshire, England. It is notably home to the University of Oxford, the second oldest university in the world.

Founded in the 8th century, Oxford was only a small town during the Great Heathen Army's invasion of England. The town blacksmith, Patrick, a secret Order of the Ancients member, was assassinated by the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, one such invading Viking.[1]
