Orestes was a learned mathematician and a follower of Pythagoras during the 6th century BCE.
During a meeting at Pythagoras' villa on Samos, Orestes embraced Pythagoras' ideas and theories, ultimately raising his cup in toast and saying "The tetractys is the sum of all wisdom!"[1]
