Annapolis Royal, originally called Port Royal, is a city in Nova Scotia, Canada.
History
In the early 18th century, Annapolis Royal was the capital of the French colony of Acadia. The population grew thanks to new colonists arriving from Europe,[1] among them missionaries and soldiers from the French Army, with their ships clogging the port of the Annapolis River.[2] The pirate Edward Kenway shipped rice to Annapolis Royal's market,[1] and crates of tobacco and olive oil to the city's old chapel.[2]
