Nikaia was a horse breeder living in the village of Alponos in Lokris during the 5th century BCE.
History
During the Peloponnesian War, bandits from Salty Bandits stole one of Nikaia's horses. When the Spartan misthios Kassandra recovered the horse, Nikaia followed the advice of an impostor, and jumped off a cliff astride the horse, believing it turned into a Pegasos after feeding it a certain type of berry.[1]
