Nie Zheng (聶政; died 397 BCE) was a Chinese Assassin who lived during the Warring States period. A young man from the Henan province (back then known as Zhi (軹)), he was remembered long after his death for being the killer of Jia Lei, the prime minister of the Han (韓) state of China.[1]

First Kill
Nie Zheng was a native of Zhi (軹) , now part of Henan province. C. 400 BCE after killing a man from his village, he fled from the possible retaliation attacks against his family by going to Qi (齊) (also Henan), where he worked as a butcher while taking care of his aging mother.[1]

Yan Zhongzi (嚴仲子), assistant to a minister of the Han (韓) state (near Loyang), got in trouble with the prime minister there, Jia Lei (俠累). Fleeing to Qi, Yan Zhongzi tried to make friends with Nie Zheng, offering him money but asking nothing in return.
