Nagamasa was a Japanese mercenary who captained a band of pirates working for the Shimazu clan. Trained in swordsmanship and skills by the clan's head ninja Fuma Sukuna, Nagamasa and his group were sent by to search and hunt down Shimazu Sei, who had gone rogue and joined the British Assassin Edward Kenway. During their pursuit of Sei in the Philippine Archipelago, some of Nagamasa's men elected to settle on the islands, displacing and kill many of the local natives, including those that stayed on Monkey Island. On an island near the Sultanate of Sulu, Nagamasa and his men were defeated and captured by Sei and the Zhang Wei Union.[1]
