Matthew Davenport was a British military officer. He served in his role fiercely, and was extremely loyal to his men, fighting with equal skill to that of his stategizing. However, unbeknownst to him, his daughter, Eleanor Mallow , enrolled into his army.

In 2012, his genetic memories were used as an Animi Avatar by the Templar company Abstergo Industries, for the training of their Animus recruits, under the title of the Commander.
