The Marquis, as he appears in Multiplayer

The Marquis (real name: Charles de la Motte) is a multiplayer character in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. This character is available with the downloadable content, The Da Vinci Disappearance. He wields a sabre as his weapon of choice.

Unique Moves

Role Reversal (Low Profile, Front)

The Marquis rapidly slashes his target across the chest in a downwards motion, moving along with his blade, before bringing his sword back around for another attack and slashing upwards from his target's waist, towards their neck, sending his victim flipping backwards to their death.

Deadly Riposte (Low Profile, Back)

The Marquis approaches his target from behind before brutally wedging his sword in the back of their neck. He then frees his sabre by easing his dead victim's head off of his sword by pushing them from the end of the blade with his hand.

The High-Class Impact (High Profile, Front)

The Marquis runs to his target, chopping down rapidly into their shoulder. With the momentum, it forces his victim to kneel, so he takes the opportunity to free his blade by brutally kneeing them in the face, sending them falling backwards as he sheathes his weapon in its scabbard.

The Grim Spin (High Profile, Back)

The Marquis runs to his target and draws his sword, slashing upwards along their back, before wedging his sabre into his victim's back shoulder blades and severing their spine in the process. He then kicks his target's legs from underneath them and spins as he frees his blade, before sheathing away his sabre.

Forcefully Dethroned (Bench Kill)

The Marquis draws his sabre and slashes his target across the torso, before holding their shoulder and forcefully stabbing his victim in the chest. He impales his victim half way to the blade's hilt, before withdrawing his sword and storing it back into its scabbard. The point of the blade can be seen, visible from out of his victim's back, before he brutally pulls it free.

Au Revoir (Aerial Kill)

The Marquis leaps from a rooftop and lands his target, forcing them to the ground. He then unsheathes his sabre and plunges it into his victim's neck, killing them instantly, before withdrawing it from their dead body and replacing it in its scabbard as he stands up.

Trivia

• "Marquis" is the French denomination for Marquess, a European title of nobility.
• The Marquis is confirmed, French, as in Project Legacy, Charles de la Motte challenges Cesare Borgia's Italian troops with his own French troops to a tournament to see which side is more chivalrous.
• He is the first multiplayer character that was featured on Project Legacy before being playable in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
• He shares his Bench Kill and Aerial Kill with the Captain, as they both use fencing swords.
• The Marquis' move The High-Class Impact is performed occasionally by Ezio if you attack someone unarmed or unaware.
