Kashiwara Village

Kashiwara Village was a village in southern Hijiyama within the province of Iga, Japan.

History[edit | edit source]

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki member and samurai Yasuke visited the village after receiving a message about a rōnin helping the people of Iga. There, Yasuke investigated and met with the rōnin, who initially felt conflicted about his presence.[1]

When Yasuke explained his stance and current circumstances, he joined the rōnin in fighting against the daimyō Nakatomi's men, who were attacking innocent civilians. After defeating them, the pair came across an argument between a woman and a man who had stolen a bag of rice from Nakatomi. Listening to the conversation, Yasuke helped decide how to solve the predicament.[1]

Afterwards, the rōnin introduced themself as Ibuki and explained their history working for Nakatomi and how they had disobeyed her orders, leading to them being exiled by fellow soldier Kyobei. When Ibuki asked Yasuke to help end Nakatomi's rule, the samurai accepted and was told by Ibuki to meet him on the outskirts of Hijiyama Fort.[1]

At some point, Yasuke and fellow Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe established a kakurega in the village.[2]
