Kanen'tó:kon (1756 - 1778) was a member of the Mohawk tribe and a close childhood friend of Ratonhnhaké:ton. Though he initially advocated for the Mohawks to remain neutral in the American Revolutionary War, he and several other Mohawk warriors later began to believe that he could protect the tribe by siding with the British. He was manipulated by Charles Lee into believing that Ratonhnhake:ton had joined George Washington in a campaign against the Mohawk people, prompting him to attack his former friend when he tried to intervene in a Mohawk ambush on colonial soldiers. Pinned to the ground and vulnerable to a lethal blow, Ratonhnhake:ton was forced to stab Kanen'to:kon in the neck with his hidden blade, killing him.
