Amaterasu (天照) is the goddess of the sun in Japanese mythology as depicted in the Shinto religion. She is also the ancestor to the Imperial House of Japan according to legend, via her grandson Ninigi.[1]

By the 16th century, trinkets supposedly containing the blessing of the goddess were produced across Japan. During the late Sengoku period, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke both obtained these legendary trinkets.[2]
