Jasper Lasalle was an enemy of Jean-Paul Marat during the French Revolution.
Marat accused Lasalle's father of being a traitor in a newspaper article, and the latter was killed, causing Lasalle to harbor a deep hatred for the politician. When Marat was assassinated, Lasalle became a suspect and was imprisoned at St. Germain. On being questioned by Arno Dorian, he claimed to have killed Marat to avenge his father.[1]
