During the 8th century, a group of Hidden Ones operated in the Western Regions between what is now Western China. Led by Éléna, the group composed of Hidden Ones of various ethnicities that included Byzantines, Sogdians, Tocharians, as well as individuals from the Indian subcontinent and the Arab world.
In September 751 during the Battle of Talas, the Hidden Ones rescued a Tang soldier named Li E before he was killed by the overwhelming Abbasids.[1]
