Grime's Grave is a Neolithic flint mine in Suffolk England, in part of what used to be the kingdom of East Anglia.

History

Around 873 CE, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir found the mine and explored it, finding many silver coins and a Mysterious Hilt Tablet within. Near the entrance was a dilapidated wood structure that contained a scrap of paper which read:

Soot-Stained Note
Legend speaks of treasure in these caves. The same legend may have brought you here, too. I survived with my sanity, but only just. Now hearken to my words – no treasure is worth your immortal soul. But if you must venture into the unknown, listen not to the voice nor the whispers, and gaze not into the void.[1]

The mine was also the home of Grendel and his mother, who had decorated the place with cursed fetishes.[2]
