The Gratuitous Chest of the Thankful was a chestpiece which belonged to Aiantides, a Greek man who lived during the 5th century BCE.
Around 422 BCE, the breastplate ended up in the hands of the Spartan misthios Kassandra, after Aiantides had left it as a reward to her for saving his aunt from the Teichos of Herakles.[1]
