Alf was the son of the dwarven blacksmith Ivaldi.

During his father's forced tenure in Ásgarðr, Alf wrote to his father about continuing his work from his own notes. Alf told his father to keep toiling and braving through his indentured servitude as they continue on their Great Work and mining deeper than Yggdrasil's roots for their people.[1]
