The German Army was the unified ground and air force of the German Empire between its unification and defeat in World War I.[1]
History
On 24 December 1914, a German Army artillery unit bombarded the British Army trenches for some time before unexpectedly halting and beginning to sing,[2] projecting their voices to make their Christmas carols heard by the British troops. Some of their soldiers walked out into no man's land without any weapons, calling a truce.[3] Both troops traded gifts and mingled.[4] This regiment included the general and German Templar Erich Albert, whom an undercover British Assassin disguised as a medic assassinated that same day.[5]
