Forts were pieces of property controlled by a faction during the American Revolution. During his travels, the Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton liberated the forts located in Boston, New York City, and the Frontier. After destroying a fort's powder reserves and killing its captain, Connor lowered the British flag in exchange for a Colonial one. By doing so, control of the fort would be shifted from Redcoats to Patriots.

-Forts replace [[Borgia Towers]] from [[Assassin's Creed Brotherhood]], now incorporating more requirments in order to liberate the surrounding area. There are 7 forts in-game, each varying in difficulty to overcome. Each one posessing a powder reserve, which must be destroyed; and a captain, who must be killed. Finally lowering the flag would liberate the fort from [[Britain|British]] control and allow for Fast Travel to it's location.
