When you hover your mouse over a marker, a screen shot of the flag in-game pops up. Click on the marker for a high resolution version of the screen shot. Renaissance

Flags make their return in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood in the form of Borgia flags. There are 101 Borgia flags to collect in Rome (18 of them in Lairs of Romulus). To make the flag collecting easier in Brotherhood, the game has some new features, such as Flags Maps obtainable from art merchants. Another feature is that every time Ezio sees a flag while using Eagle Vision, the flag will be marked on the map.

Collecting all 101 flags will reward Ezio with the Borgia Cape, which makes Ezio permanently Incognito, and you receive an achievement "Capture the Flag".
