- "May the Father of Understanding guide us."
- ―Templar blessing[src]
The Father of Understanding, is a person or a being to whom the Templars pledge allegiance and ask for guidance. In the Crusades, the Templars would usually sign his name before theirs in letters they wrote.[1] During the Renaissance, Templars would often ask him for guidance as a greeting or at the end of a meeting.[2]
During the early 21st Century, the CEO of Abstergo Industries, Alan Rikkin, e-mailed Warren Vidic, placing the blessing at the end of one of his messages.[2]
