Father And Son was a virtual representation of one of Ratonhnhaké:ton's genetic memories, relived by Desmond Miles in 2012 through the Animus.
Description
Connor and Haytham discovered Benjamin Church's location. However, to gain entrance, Connor had to steal a military uniform.
Dialogue
Connor met with Haytham in New York.
- Haytham: Evening Connor. I see you made it here in one piece.
- Connor: Recovered from your beating, then?
- Haytham: Benjamin Church is holed up in an abandoned brewery on the waterfront. We should be done with this by sunrise.
- Connor: Good. I would like to have those supplies returned as soon as possible.
- Haytham: Of course, I wouldn't want to keep you from your lost cause. Come along then. Follow me.
- Connor: Tell me something... You could have killed me when we first met - what stayed your hand?
- Haytham: Curiosity. Any other questions?
- Connor: What is it the Templars truly seek?
- Haytham: Order. Purpose. Direction. No more than that. It's your lot that means to confound with this nonsense talk of freedom. Time was, the Assassins professed a far more sensible goal, that of peace.
- Connor: Freedom IS peace.
- Haytham: Oh, no. It's an invitation to chaos. Only look at this little revolution your friends have started. I have stood before the Continental Congress and listened to them stamp and shout. All in the name of liberty. But it is just noise.
- Connor: And this is why you favor Lee?
- Haytham: He understands the needs of this would-be nation far better than the jobbernowls who profess to represent it.
- Connor: It seems your tongue has tasted sour grapes. The people have made their choice - and it was Washington.
- Haytham: The people's choice nothing. It was done by a group of priviliged cowards seeking only to enrich themselves. They convened in private and made a decision that would benefit THEM. Oh, they might have dressed it up with pretty words, but that does not make it true. The only difference, Connor - the ONLY difference between myself and those you aid - is that I do not feign affection.
They reached the abandoned brewery.
- Haytham: Hold a moment. Church, you clever bastard!
- Connor: What is it?
- Haytham: I was hoping I could wave you past the guards, but he's replaced most of them with men I don't know. Hmmm. Well I should be able to pass without arousing suspicion. But you...
- Connor: No. We do this together or not at all.
- Haytham: Then what do you propose?
- Connor: I will find a guard who is off duty and take his uniform.
- Haytham: Very well. I will wait here then.
- Connor: Of course you will.
- Haytham: Oh I'm sorry. Would you like me to come along and hold your hand, perhaps? Provide kind words of encouragement?
Connor stole a uniform and returned to Haytham.
- Haytham: That should suffice. Follow me.
- Guard: Hold strangers! You tread on private property. What business have you here?
- Haytham: The Father of Understanding guides us.
- Guard: You, I recognize. Not the savage.
- Haytham: He is my son.
- Guard: Tasted of the forest's fruits, did you? Off you go, then.
Outcome
Connor and Haytham gained access to Benjamin Church's storehouse.
Trivia
- To achieve full synchronization, one constraint had to be completed: Connor could not be detected when stealing the uniform.
