Evreux is a commune in the Eure department of France. During the medieval period, the city was home to many clergy and the gospel of the belief of "deliverance" under the Bellatores Dei's teachings.[1]
History
In the late 9th century, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan went to locate the missing Queen Richardis, working off Pierre's information about her last known whereabouts. Upon arrival in the commune, Eivor overheard the townspeople heading to the Church of Saint Taurinus as word of Little Mother's presence was mentioned. From hearing the commotion, Eivor stealthily intruded on the church's service, where Little Mother was giving a sermon.[2]
Within the sermon, Little Mother mentioned that deliverance was permitted and possible for anyone, from commoner to king and, especially, the queen. Catching the change in tone, Eivor inferred that Little Mother had knowledge about Queen Richardis, but before she could question Little Mother, Eivor saw that she had disappeared during the silent prayer.[2]
Looking for clues, Eivor probed her surroundings within the town and overheard Frankish soldiers near St. Taurinus Tavern. From her probe, Eivor learned that Little Mother had the company of a women close to royalty, and overheard a soldier outside the tavern complaining about Little Mother. Talking to this soldier, Eivor was told that if she wanted to talk to Little Mother, she should travel down the path to her home. Thus, Eivor followed his direction and left the town.[3]
