The "Eagle Bearer" (died in 420s BCE) was a mercenary claiming to be the legendary Eagle Bearer who operated during the Peloponnesian War.
Biography
During the Peloponnesian War, the mercenary went to Alponos in Lokris. He met with Megakles, a man who tried to prevent the village being plundered by pirates. Paid to do several jobs around the village, the "Eagle Bearer" went ahead and ruined most jobs, making the situation of the village unbearable.[1]
He met with Kallipides, the blacksmith of the village. He helped the blacksmith by lighting his furnace, but let it explode on purpose, blinding the man in the process to prevent him making weapons for the villagers. This in turn indrectly caused his death.[2]
He also met with Nikaia, a horse breeder. He told her that feeding a certain type of berry to her horse, would turn her horse into a Pegasos. This in turn results in Nikaia feeding Princess Purple Pie and jumping off a cliff, to her death.[3]
Lastly he met with Ajax the Lesser and send him to a dangerous location to gather a rather useless helmet. He didn't die as planned during that trip, which in time would still happen as the Ajax imposter was convinced he was a reincarnation of Greek hero Ajax the Lesser and thus immmortal.[4]
Spartan misthios Kassandra tried fixing all problems for the city but ultimately failed, due to the actions of the imposter. After defending the village of pirates, Kassandra recieved a viable lead on the imposter by Megakles.[5] She eventually confronted the imposter and his pet chicken Chikaros, and killed both.[6]
