Djerty was an ancient Egyptian town and temple dedicated to the Egyptian god Monthu in Upper Egypt.
History
During 70 BCE, Djerty was the home of the Medjay Elder Hemon. That year, a fellow Medjay, Sabu, visited Hemon to warn him of an assassin who was hired to eliminate the Medjay bloodline. Sabu later left to search for the said assassin. Unfortunately, the assassin found and captured both Hemon and his assistant, Sebestet. After being interrogated, Hemon and Sebestet were both executed by the assassin, who learned that Sabu and his son, Bayek, were the last of the Medjay.[1]
Trivia
