In 754's Flower Banquet, one of Guozhong's servants led the group of winners towards the gazebo, mentioning that Yang Guozhong was currently busy and would deal with their requests later. The delegates arrived at the small building to find a hooded man awaiting them with a bloody peony in hands.[1] The man, Li E, told the group he was there to seek retribution for their massacre at Duling village before attacking and killing all of them.[2] A short while later, the servant was informed that the corpses had been found in the location and hidden by the palace guards so as to not create a panic.
