Cypriot Gabbro Head

The Cypriot Gabbro Head was a staff that originated from Cyprus and was capped with a studded ball supposedly made from gabbro, a type of igneous rock. The rough and solid head could be used to inflict injury, allowing the staff to be adapted as a light—if not the deadliest—weapon.

Although plain, staves of this design were also wielded by the pharaohs of the Ptolemaic dynasty as scepters and maces. During his hunt for the Order of the Ancients, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa commonly found this weapon in the inventories of blacksmiths and on bodies and in chests during his travels throughout Egypt.[1]
