Hm I'm not sure why you opted to talk about the subject indirectly as historical simulations of the Animus this time rather than just directly :-/

Animus simulated pile of coins

A coin is a flat, round piece of metal used to as a medium of exchange. For thousands of years, human societies across the world have minted coins to act as the physical form of money, and they have been vital to the emergence of state economies.

Usage

The Animus, enabling people to revisit times past in virtual reality simulations, simulated the historical currencies of any time period or country with the coins.[1]

These included the drachma in ancient Greece[2] and Egypt[3], florins[4][5], ducats[6][7], and reales throughout Europe from 13th to 20th century, akçe in Ottoman Constantinople[8], livres in France and doubloons in the West Indies during the Golden Age of Piracy[9][10][11] as well as pound sterling throughout the British Empire.[12][13][14] In addition, sometimes special coins were used, such as Assassins' coins collected by the Assassin Aveline de Grandpré, and the Templar coins collected by the Levantine Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.[15]
