The sword is supposedly the most powerful single-player weapon in the game. Also, the sword has been known to have special animations not seen in other swords. This is similar to weapons found in [[Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood|Brotherhood]] and [[Assassin's Creed: Revelations|Revelations]].

Captain Kidd's Sawtooth Cutlass was a powerful sword used in close-quarters combat, and was the personal weapon of the infamous William Kidd.

The cutlass was found in an isolated ruin on Cerros, which the Assassin Connor explored during the American Revolution. He obtained the weapon after he navigated the ruins where it was kept.

Trivia

  • A glitch may sometimes occur in which the sword will disappear. To re-equip it, Connor will need to visit the Davenport Homestead's armory or a general store, equip another weapon, and then select the cutlass again.
  • Occasionally, some officers and Jäger could be seen to have this weapon equipped, as well as Haytham Kenway, sometimes even in combat.
