Blowpipe

The blowpipe was a weapon that was used by Assassins such as Edward Kenway and Aveline de Grandpré. In regards to Aveline, the weapon first belonged to the Assassin François Mackandal, before it was passed down to her by her Mentor, Agaté.

Used as a silent and deadly weapon, the blowpipe functioned in a similar way to poison darts. Aveline possessed two different types of ammunition for the blowpipe; the first would kill quickly, while the other would have caused a slower and more dramatic death.

During the Golden Age of Piracy, the assassin Edward Kenway made use of a blowpipe with various darts each to tackle targets with stealth. Known darts include:

• Beserke darts: these darts cause the target to go into a frenzy much like how he would if you poison him, but instead of killing the target it instead drives him to attack anyone close to him, be it his allies, animals, or Edward. They also work as a distraction to lure guards away.
• Poison darts: these darts will kill the target and also cause a distraction allowing edward to slip right through.
• Sleep darts: these darts are for a non-lethal approach. The target will be rendered unconcious.

Trivia

Assassin's Creed III: Liberation

• The "Deadly Haystack" achievement could be earned by killing 50 enemies from a haystack using the blowpipe.
• The "Predator" achievement could be earned by killing an enemy with the blowpipe from a tree whilst using Eagle Vision.
