After her village was destroyed by British Templars during one of their incursions into Java, Nirmala, still a child, managed to kill two of the Order's soldiers before being subdued. Sir Eamon Hathaway recognized her natural gifts and took her under his wing.
Nirmala took to her Templar training with wild abandon, becoming an impulsive, unpredictable counterpoint to Eamon's even-keeled discipline.
Now a Black Cross herself, she continues to follow Eamon in his quest for the Observatory.
