Ambergris

Ambergris is a dull gray substance produced by the digestive system of sperm whales, historically used as fixative in perfumes.

During the Italian Renaissance, the Assassin Francesco Vecellio plundered a number of ships containing the Templar Cesare Borgia's spoils. Among the looted items were shipments of ambergris.[1] The Italian Assassins would use them as ingredients in manufacturing perfume.[2]

While in Rome, Ezio Auditore procured ambergris as a favor for Tiber Island's art merchant in exchange for a map of treasure chest locations in the Vaticano District.[3]
