Basim Ibn Ishaq was a member of the Hidden Ones from the Abbasid Caliphate who operated during the 9th century, working primarily in foreign nations on the Brotherhood's behalf. He was also the reincarnation of the Isu Loki, and retained all his past memories.

Biography

Basim was the son of an architect, who constructed the Great Mosque of Samarra but was exiled and died in poverty after someone else took credit for his work. During his youth, Basim was a frequent visitor of the great library of Baghdad.[1]

In 870 CE, while stationed in Constantinople, a fellow Hidden One informed him of Ammon's mission in Bulgar and his death. Disappointed in his acolyte's death, he interest was peaked when the Hidden One told Basim of a Norseman with a mark on his neck.[2] He then set out to meet the Viking, Sigurd Styrbjornson in Constantinople and befriended him. Two years later, Sigurd brought him and Hytham over to Norway, where he met Sigurd's adoptive younger sibling, Eivor Varinsdottir.[3] While in Norway, he was present to watch certain members of Raven Clan decide to move to England and escape the rule of Harald Fairhair under a unified Norway.[4] In time, he told Eivor of a greater conspiracy by a hidden enemy to control the Norse as well as all of England.[5]

Eivor and Sigurd traveled to a fjord in the north of Hordafylke. They find an ancient Isu ruin. While Eivor and Sigurd are in the ruin, Basim attacks them. Eivor wins the fight and Basim is trapped in the ruin. Layla Hassan finds Basim there, still living when she journeys to the ruin. Basim is freed by Layla and joins the Assassins, he then enters the Animus.
