"The events and characters might be fictional, but the feelings are real" is a phrase I've kept running into lately, in one variant or another. Feelings, as pesky and bothersome as they occasionally appear, are a big part of why people like a franchise or another.... or why they don't.
Things that evoke feelings are remembered. Things that don't.... not so much.
