Athenian Shoes

The Athenian Shoes were shoes commonly worn by Athenian soldiers during the 5th century BCE. Made of strong leather, these were basic, but fulfilled their duty well.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra commonly found these shoes in the inventories of blacksmiths and looted them from bodies and chests during her travels throughout Greece.[1]
