I don't think the Viking Armor belonged to Otso Berg's ancestor. The ancestor, described by Otso Berg as "a young man", was present at the Viking raid of Lindisfarne in 793 in Northeastern England, whereas the Viking Armor was recovered by Shay in North America.

I also noticed they misspelled the name of the Island. Calling it "Lindsifarne".

Berg vaguely knew about Shay. He had some idea of who he might be, but he didn’t know for sure who Shay was on the first day.

As for the Viking ancestor, Berg’s ancestor didn’t die during the raid on Lindsifarne. This means that he survived and probably continued to sail with his Viking clan. Which means he could have died while sailing in the North Atlantic.

I never meant to imply that Berg's ancestor died in the raid on Lindsifarne, because it's obvious he didn't. The entire concept of genetic memories requires the ancestor to have survived past that event lived long enough to conceive a child.

I simply meant to point out that we have no reason to think that the armor Shay found belonged specifically to that ancestor.
