The Tower of Askre was a ruined tower on the southern shores of Lake Kopais in Boeotia, Greece.
During the Peloponnesian War, the tower ruins was used by a group of bandits as a hideout. It was later visited by the misthios Kassandra, who eliminated the bandits there and recovered one of the Ainigmata Ostraka.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Askre was a town in Boeotia in antiquity; it's uncertain whether this tower is meant as the single remaining tower of the town that Pausanias reported, or whether the name of the tower is meant to honor the water nymph Ασκρη (Askrê).
