Totila (died 1 July 552) was the King of the Ostrogoths from 541 to his death in 552.

During the Gothic Wars waged by Roman Emperor Justinian I, Totila invaded and sacked Rome, destroying much of the walls constructed by Aurelian and Probus. This was an attempt to reduce the Empire's ability to defend the city.[1]
