Thorgest's Shield was a light shield once used by the first King of Dublin, the Viking Thorgest. In the late 9th century, jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir rediscovered it in the middle of Lough Neagh, Ulster after defeating the last two members of of Thorgest's old sailing crew, the drengir Hogne Sea-Tossed and Blud the Giant.[1]
